what should I wear?

We use fine art backgrounds and specialty lighting techniques that are precisely calculated to render your portrait as a beautiful masterpiece of art. For that reason, it is important that certain styles and colors be used for the success of your portrait.

Think about it, this may become the most formal, elegant and sophisticated portrait that you and your family may possess in your lifetime. In order to keep the light reflecting on the face and eyes, it's imperative to dress formal, think timeless not trendy, and wear mainly darker color clothing. For these type of exquisite portraits, I suggest the following attire guidelines:

• Men: Adult, teenage & young boys  - Dark fitted jackets, suits, tuxedos, white shirt, tie, and dark pants. For the younger ones, a solid dark sweater, white long shirt with bow tie, vest, suspenders, or a nice solid color button down short sleeve shirt is acceptable. Avoid white socks. ​

 

• Ladies: Adult, teenage & young girls - Dark or jeweled tones (navy, black, red, burgundy, dark green, etc.) fitted dress or gown. For the younger ones, ivory, off white, or cream are also acceptable. Long sleeves, or sleeveless if you feel comfortable. Sleeves to the elbow (3/4 sleeves) are universally flattering and slimming. Textures like lace, ruffles, sequins & ruching add visual interest. Statement and classic jewelry such as pearls, diamonds, etc. are encouraged. Keep makeup simple and to a minimum.

Consider bringing your child's musical instrument, ballet outfit, equestrian uniform, etc. Please discuss your ideas prior to your portrait appointment.
